I’m curious how you’d place managed hosts like Cloudways, Kinsta or Laravel Cloud in this model. They take on a lot of the patching and backups, so would you estimate the ops hours closer to option B or option C?

I liked that you covered the cost side as well, especially the credit system. For a small WordPress site on a managed host like Cloudways or Kinsta, would you still add cloudflare free in front, or does it depend on the audience location?

With Strapi and Payload the software is free, but the hosting and upkeep can end up deciding the real cost. Have you seen teams run them on managed hosts like Cloudways or Railway so they don’t have to handle the server side themselves? I am curious how that works out in practice, especially for Payload inside a Next.js app.

one thing I would add is cost. Vercel and Firebase work very well at low traffic, but the bill can grow quickly with the project. Cloudways and Kinsta are popular for more predictable pricing, and Cloudways also has a pay as you go option. You give up the PR previews, but budgeting becomes easier. Would you recommend that to clients who prefer a predictable monthly bill?
